Minnesota Association of Cooperatives
Pleased with Committee Assignment
St. Paul, Minn. (December 13, 2006) – The recent assignment of Congressman-Elect Tim Walz (D-Minn) to the House Agriculture Committee means good news for Minnesota cooperatives and agriculture.
“Minnesota cooperatives are very pleased Congressman-Elect Tim Walz was successfully placed on the House Agriculture Committee. Along with incoming House Agriculture Committee Chair Collin Peterson, Minnesota will have a significant influence on the contents of the federal Farm Bill, a bill that is very important to family farmers, the economy of rural Minnesota and the economy of the entire state," said Bill Oemichen, Minnesota Association of Cooperatives (MAC) president & CEO.
MAC appreciates Walz’s support of extending the MILC program without the reduction of benefits, and the general support for Minnesota’s family farmers.
