Governor’s Second Emergency Executive Order
Reflects Unique Harvest Conditions

ST PAUL, Minn. (November 11, 2009) With continued stresses on propane and now anhydrous ammonia, a second emergency executive order granted by Governor Tim Pawlenty demonstrates his continued commitment to help Minnesota producers through this difficult harvest season.

Cool, wet weather conditions this harvest season have stressed the infrastructure and available inputs needed to condition crops and keep farmers working in the fields. Governor Pawlenty granted a second emergency executive order this week, now focused on ensuring sufficient supplies of anhydrous ammonia are available for fall fertilizer applications. Cooperative Network, the trade association for Minnesota and Wisconsin cooperative businesses, worked hard to obtain both orders from Pawlenty.

“For the second time in less than a week, Governor Pawlenty has once again come to rescue of Minnesota farmers,” said Bill Oemichen, Cooperative Network president and CEO. “The most recent order will ensure that transportation companies, terminal operators, and cooperative agribusinesses can best utilize their assets for safe, efficient delivery of anhydrous ammonia.”
