Sign up now for the new Cooperative Network Adopt an Urban
Legislator program. This new programwill help educate urban
legislators about the challenges faced by rural communities and
production agriculture. Cooperative Network member co-ops that sign
up for the Adopt an Urban Legislator Program will be matched with
an urban legislator. If you have a specific urban legislator that you
would like to request as your adopted legislator, please indicate their
name on the sign-up form.
Co-ops signed up for the program will be encouraged to invite their
adopted legislator out to their co-op for a visit/field trip. We also
encourage you to visit them at the capitol when they are in session
during the winter and spring. Also, we would encourage your
members to send them letters on co-op issues of importance. The
program is very self-directed and you can do with it just about
whatever you want! The goal is just to educatemetro-area legislators
about the role of co-ops in your communities and how life is different
in your rural communities and small towns.
