COOPERATIVE BUILDER AWARD NOMINATIONS

July 20, 2011

To: Member Co-op Managers, Board Presidents, and Communications Staff

From: William Oemichen, President & CEO

Re: Cooperative Builder Awards

Each year, we honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions at the local, state, and/or national level to advance cooperative philosophy and ideals. Cooperative Network has one award program for Minnesota and Wisconsin cooperators. The Cooperative Network Cooperative Builder Award program replaces the Wisconsin Cooperative Builder Award and the Minnesota Cooperative Leadership Award program. Cooperative Network will select three (3) distinguished individuals to add to the Cooperative Builder roster at the annual meeting banquet scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Rochester Convention Center, Rochester, Minnesota.

Deadline for Nominations

Completed nomination forms for the Cooperative Builder Award must be received at the Cooperative Network office on or before Friday, September 9, 2011. If your nominee is selected to receive an award, you will be asked to provide black & white and color photos of that individual for the awards ceremony. We will provide instructions on the types of photos needed and will give you ample time to collect them. Nomination forms are also available HERE. If you have any questions, please contact David Erickson at (608) 258-4405.

Nominations MUST be received by Friday, September 9, 2011.

COOPERATIVE BUILDER AWARD

We need your help in identifying those living men and women whose contributions to cooperative business deserve special recognition. Wisconsin and Minnesota have a strong cooperative heritage and you may know individuals from your cooperative sector who have committed substantial time and energy to building that history. Please take time to nominate them for the Cooperative Builder Award. You may nominate more than one person, but previous winners who are listed on the back of this page are not eligible to win again. Also, please note that cooperators currently serving as directors on the Cooperative Network Board are not eligible for this award until their board term has ended. A maximum of three (3) individuals will be selected to receive Cooperative Builder Awards.

Nominees should fit into one of three categories: cooperative member, cooperative employee, or friend of cooperatives. Winners are selected based on the information provided on the nomination sheets and through supporting materials. It is important, therefore, that the impartial judging committee have complete and detailed information to fairly evaluate each nominee on his or her accomplishments and contributions. Please do not feel constrained by the space on the application. List the nominee's activities and honors and explain in detail how these efforts have contributed to the good of cooperatives. Letters of recommendation, newspaper clippings, and other printed materials about the individual are also an important aid to the selection committee. Please send five (5) copies of all materials to:
