Intern Position Available
The Cooperative Network, located in Saint Paul, is currently accepting applications for an intern to implement the second phase of a grant awarded to the Cooperative Network’s nonprofit arm, the Minnesota Cooperative Education Foundation. The Cooperative Network is a trade association that represents all types of cooperative businesses in Minnesota and Wisconsin in many different industries, ranging from agricultural to utility co-ops.
The student worker could choose to work either full time during the summer or part time for one full year; preference will be given to the latter. The hours for the one-year option would be approximately 10 hours per week during the academic year and 20 hours a week during the summer.
The Foundation has a multi-faceted program with the goal of educating the general public, and specifically secondary and post-secondary students, in Minnesota about the role cooperatives play in the state.
Electronic skills are a plus, as the intern would be helping create webinars, educational curriculum cd-roms, and other technology. Experience with curriculum development would also be helpful but is not a must. The student worker will be responsible for the overall activities and tasks associated with the grant, including research, writing, networking with cooperative representatives around the state, marketing and outreach. The goal of the grant is to promote cooperative businesses around the state, through educational institutions, the media, and professional organizations.
Pay begins at $8.50 per hour. A 401k benefit is included. The student may need to work independently out of the office due to space constraints, but the student will need to meet with the supervisor at the office on a weekly basis. Access to your own personal computer is required. The successful applicant will be able to work largely in an unsupervised autonomous fashion, and will be comfortable with introducing themselves to cooperative representatives and executives in order to conduct the research and associated programmatic tasks.
