Session Overview
Cooperative Network is hosting this training session in conjunction with the 2010 Twin Cities-based
CoBank Customers Meeting. This session will provide an overview of risk management strategies for
cooperative businesses in the agriculture and utility industry in the Upper Midwest. Designed with
co-op leaders in mind, this forum will help you assess and mitigate the risks inherent in running
a business in today’s dynamic marketplace. Experts in the field of enterprise risk management
will lead you through the process of identifying, evaluating and mitigating risk factors within your
business, from financial to political. In addition, you will hear from colleagues in your industry during
a peer panel.
The Speakers
During the “Risk Management for Cooperative Leaders program,” you will hear from an economist,
a national Enterprise Risk Management consultant, a C.P.A specializing in risk management for
cooperatives, and a panel comprised of local co-op representatives from the utility and agriculture
industry. The speakers will represent a diverse group of experts on risk management, ranging from
local to national experts. They will present their perspectives on handling risk at your company from
the overall economic environment all the way down to the local cooperative level.
